Azzurri celebrate at the end of the season

The Italians made a strong statement at the final ski cross race of the 2025/26 World Cup season. Three athletes finished within the top six – including Dominik Zuech from Lana.

Although the South Tyrolean finished sixth, making him "only" the third-best Italian, he still achieved a top result. In Gällivare (SWE), Zuech was only defeated in the semifinals. In the bronze medal match, he was only beaten by the Canadian Jared Schmidt.

The victory was contested by two of Zuech's teammates. Simone Deromedis and Edoardo Zorzi had made it to the grand final, where Reece Howden (CAN) and Kilian Himmelsbach (GER) awaited them. In the end, Deromedis from Trentino had the best finish and won the race in Gällivare. Behind the Italian, Zorzi also landed on the podium in third place. Howden completed the podium in second.

Howden and Deromedis also finished at the top of the overall World Cup standings – but in reverse order. The Canadian secured the crystal globe with 1.061 points, while the Italian (750) finished a distant second.
