Zuech and Gunsch come away empty-handed in the qualification round

On Friday, the qualifying rounds for Sunday's race took place at the Ski Cross World Cup in Craigleith, Canada. The two South Tyrolean athletes, Yanick Gunsch and Dominik Zuech, failed to qualify.

While Zuech was still in qualifying the day before with the sixth-best timeIt wasn't enough for him to make it into the top 32 this time. The 30-year-old from Lana didn't reach the finish line. His teammate Yanick Gunsch from Matsch fared slightly better, but only managed 34th place. The French qualifying winner, Evan Klufts, was a full 1,76 seconds faster.


Despite the disappointing results, two Italians, Federico Tomasoni (11th/+0,98) and Simone Deromedis (17th/+1,23), qualified for Sunday's final. Another race is scheduled for the day before, where Deromedis, Tomasoni, and Zuech will also have their chance to shine, starting at 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, Jole Galli aims to be among the frontrunners in both women's races.
