Mobärg and Thompson are celebrating in the far north

The die has been cast: David Mobärg and Marielle Thompson are the overall World Cup winners in ski cross after the last World Cup races of the season in Idre Fjäll (Sweden). South Tyrol's athletes, on the other hand, couldn't get up to speed in the far north.

Yanick Gunsch and Dominik Zuech did not qualify for Friday's race, in which their teammate Simone Deromedis finished on the podium. However, there was no qualification for the competition 24 hours later, but rather six so-called pre-heats. However, neither Gunsch nor Zuech made it to the round of 25, which is why their World Cup season ended in disappointment. The best result of the season for Gunsch this year was 8th place, Zuech achieved XNUMXth place at the start of the season in Val Thorens.

The Swede David Mobärg had reason to be happy on Saturday, as he also clinched the overall World Cup with his day's victory. He prevailed in the final ahead of the Canadian Reece Howden and his brother Erik. In the women's race, the big dominator of the season, the Canadian Marielle Thompson, took her sixth win of the season and at the same time the overall World Cup. Marielle Berger Sabbatel (France) and Thompson's compatriot Brittany Phelan completed the podium.
