Ten years after his brother: Domen Prevc wins the tour

High-flyer Domen Prevc has followed in his brother Peter's footsteps and, exactly ten years later, replicated his brother's ski jumping triumph at the Four Hills Tournament. And he did so in impressive fashion.

The 26-year-old Slovenian jumped 138 and 138,5 meters in icy cold conditions in Bischofshofen and, as the second-place finisher of the day on the Paul-Außerleitner ski jump, eliminated any remaining doubts about his first-ever coup at the traditional event.

While Prevc received the Golden Eagle and prize money of 100.000 euros, Austrians Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher completed the overall podium in front of 12.500 spectators, finishing well behind the winners. The final stage victory also went to an Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) athlete: Daniel Tschofenig won ahead of Prevc and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi.

The 74th edition of the ski jumping spectacle was likely the last to feature only men. With the approval for floodlights at the Bergisel hill in Innsbruck, women are expected to join the program for next winter's anniversary event. The plan is for them to complete their jumps on the same day as the men's qualifying rounds.

Insam scores points

At the end of the tour, South Tyrol's star jumper Alex Insam also had reason to celebrate. Although he lost to Poland's Kacper Tomasiak in the knockout phase, his high score earned him a place in the second round, and he ultimately finished in 30th place. The second Italian, Giovanni Bresadola from Trentino, missed out on points, finishing 31st. The young Val Gardena native Maximilian Gartner failed to qualify in his second World Cup appearance on Monday.
