Nika Prevc surpasses everyone

The Prevc family continues to shape women's and men's ski jumping – and in an impressive way.

Nika Prevc won the World Cup in Villach, Austria, ahead of local favorite Lisa Eder and third-placed German Selina Freitag. The best Italian was Annika Sieff, who finished 30th. The two South Tyrolean skiers, Leonie Runggaldier and Jessica Malsiner, failed to qualify.

Prevc jumped 94,5 and 94 meters on the normal hill. With this success, the 20-year-old also took over the overall World Cup lead from Japan's Nozomi Maruyama. Her brother, Domen Prevc, currently leads both the men's World Cup standings and the Four Hills Tournament.

Next year at this time in Bischofshofen?

Four days after the end of the well-attended Two Nights Tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberstdorf, the female athletes competed in front of a rather bleak backdrop with very few spectators. This is set to change almost exactly a year from now. The Four Hills Tournament will then be open to women for the first time. The event will traditionally culminate in the grand finale in Bischofshofen on January 5th and 6th.

The sticking point for a women's ski tour had been the lack of floodlights at the third stop in Innsbruck. The state of Tyrol, the federal government, the city of Innsbruck, and the Austrian Ski Federation have now agreed on the financing of a floodlight system.
