Austrian woman with first-ever victory

Lisa Eder celebrated her long-overdue first World Cup victory at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Zao on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old from Salzburg, who had finished second five times in quick succession, prevailed with jumps of 96 and 98 meters, 1,4 points ahead of Nika Prevc (SLO) and 5,6 points ahead of Canadian Abigail Strate. Eder is the sixth Austrian woman to win a World Cup ski jumping competition. She joins Daniela Iraschko-Stolz, Eva Pinkelnig, Chiara Kreuzer, Sara Marita Kramer, and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger as previous winners.

The best Italian rider on Wednesday was Annika Sieff, who finished 25th and still managed to collect some points. The women's World Cup circuit remains in Japan, with two competitions scheduled in Sapporo this weekend.
