Prevc is disqualified – and still celebrates.

Domen Prevc has won the overall Ski Jumping World Cup title – crowning an exceptional season. Although the Slovenian was disqualified after his jump at the World Cup in Lahti, he still secured the large crystal globe early.

In terms of performance, Prevc was once again the dominant jumper in Lahti. In the single round, the 26-year-old soared to 129 meters, setting by far the best distance of the day. However, disappointment followed shortly after the competition: During equipment inspection, the judges discovered that his skis were one centimeter too long relative to his body weight. This violates the rules – Prevc was subsequently disqualified.

However, this had no effect on the overall World Cup standings. His last remaining competitor, Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, only managed sixth place in Lahti and therefore couldn't collect enough points to overtake the Slovenian. Thus, despite the disqualification, it was clear that Prevc had won the large crystal globe for the overall World Cup title for the first time in his career.

Historic success series

With this victory, the Slovenian completes a historic series of successes. Within just 363 days, Prevc won the World Championship title, the Four Hills Tournament, the Ski Flying World Championships, Olympic gold, and now the overall World Cup. Such dominance across multiple major events had previously only been achieved by the Finnish ski jumping icon Matti Nykänen in the early 1980s.

The day's victory in Lahti ultimately went to Germany's Philipp Raimund, who jumped 122,5 meters and was only declared the winner after his disqualification was announced. Alex Insam from Val Gardena finished in 40th place.
