War of the roses with Olympic champion: "Opened my mouth too wide"

Marius Lindvik blames the German for the broken friendship with ski jumping Olympic champion Philipp Raimund.

“After last season, he spoke a bit too freely in the media,” Lindvik said after winning his silver medal with the mixed team at the Winter Games. That's why he no longer wanted to be friends with Raimund. “It's definitely sad.”

Raimund had said after his victory on the normal hill the day before: "I played video games with him, I did live streams with him. I would have called him a friend back then." The 25-year-old also said: "After the situation in Trondheim, it felt a bit like cheating, like being spat in my face."

Raimund misses apology

At last year's World Championships in the Norwegian city, Lindvik and his teammate Johann André Forfang were disqualified from the large hill competition due to manipulated ski suits. Previously, Lindvik had won gold on the normal hill, ahead of Raimund's German teammate Andreas Wellinger.
"But I'm a little sad that it never happened. Especially because I was friends with him." Philipp Raimund

“I don’t want to make a bigger deal out of it than it is. What they did was a mistake,” said Raimund. “Personally, all I can say is: if one of them had come to me and said, ‘Hey, I’m really sorry about what happened,’ then I probably would have forgiven them. I would have said, ‘You’re human beings, let’s focus on the future together.’” Raimund added: “But I’m a little sad that it never happened. Especially because I was friends with him. And there was never an apology or anything like that.”
