A total of 8 athletes from the Italian winter sports association FISI will take part in the final of the Summer Grand Prix in Rasnov. The ski jumpers will not be jumping on snow as usual, but on plastic mats. A double competition is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the relatively small facility in Romania (the hill size is "only" 97 meters).
There is a lot at stake for Alex Insam. With 187 points, the Val Gardena native is just behind the leading duo, which consists of Stefan Kraft (AUT) and Marius Lindvik (NOR), who have 200 points to their name. If Insam can overtake the two ski jumpers, he would secure the overall victory in the summer series. However, it is also clear that the South Tyrolean is the clear outsider in the top trio. Things have been going well for Insam recently. In Wisla (POL) last weekend, he finished 5th and 8th. Lindvik took the wins in both cases.
Malsiner sisters present in Rasnov
In addition to Insam, two other athletes from Val Gardena in Romania, Lara Malsiner and Jessica Malsiner, are taking part. They complete the women's squad, which also includes Annika Sieff, Martina Zanitzer and Martina Ambrosi. In addition to Insam, Francesco Cecon and Andrea Campregher have also been nominated for the men's team.Edit Profile
