Wind leads to the cancellation: Kvandal with the double strike

Eirin Maria Kvandal won the second Ski Flying World Cup competition in Vikersund on Sunday, just as she had the day before. This time she benefited from the competition being cancelled.

The Norwegian needed only one jump of 231,5 meters to secure the victory, as the second round was canceled due to deteriorating wind conditions. Kvandal edged out overall World Cup winner Nika Prevc by 4,1 points, with fellow Norwegian Anna Odine Ström finishing third. Annika Sieff, the only other competitor in the field, failed to qualify for the second round (18th/205,0 meters/171,5 points).

The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) was once again not represented in the competition. Following Lisa Eder's premature end to the season, only Julia Mühlbacher competed in the qualifying round, but the Upper Austrian skier failed to make it into the top 20: "Unfortunately, it's not quite enough for the very top yet. But we said beforehand that we weren't looking at the result; it's just about her covering distance," she explained afterwards. The season finale takes place in Planica, Slovenia, from Thursday to Sunday.
