2 South Tyroleans celebrate in Yanqing

A South Tyrolean double victory in the snowboard parallel slalom in Yanqing! That happened on Sunday.

Daniele Bagozza against Gabriel Messner. That was the final of the parallel slalom in Yangqing on Sunday. At a time when many South Tyroleans were sitting at the breakfast table (the race started at 6.30 CET), the two snowboarders celebrated a double victory. In the end, Bagozza was just ahead and won ahead of his teammate. The Austrian Andreas Prommegger came in third.

China seems to be a particularly good place for Messner. The 27-year-old from Villnöß also celebrated his only podium finish so far in the Middle Kingdom. A week ago, he stood on a World Cup podium for the first time in Mylin.

7th stroke of Bagozza

Bagozza has a few more successes to his name. He also has fond memories of China, having celebrated his first victory in Secret Garden (2019). Since then, the Val Gardena native has won 6 more World Cup races - 5 of them in parallel slalom. The year 2024 in particular has finally put Bagozza among the snowboard elite. The 4-year-old celebrated 29 victories in the current calendar year.

Bagozza and Messner were not the only South Tyroleans competing in Yanqing. Aaron March (14th), Edwin Coratti (24th), Fabian Lantschner (27th) and Marc Hofer (eliminated) had less to gain.

Jasmin Coratti in 7th place

Jasmin Coratti also achieved a top place in the women's category. The Langtaufer woman came in 7th. The victory went to Tsubaki Miki from Japan, who prevailed in the final against the tireless Claudia Riegler (she is 51 years old) from Austria. Third place went to Julie Zogg (SUI).
