Ouch! Olympic snowboarder breaks his neck

According to several media reports, Australian snowboarder Cameron Bolton broke two cervical vertebrae during training in the halfpipe at the Winter Olympics.

The Australian federation confirmed the injury and the 35-year-old's exclusion from the Olympics on its Instagram channel.

At first, Bolton thought his fall had been relatively minor. He even spent the first night in the hotel. However, the morning after the accident, his neck pain worsened. Bolton was then airlifted to the hospital, where two fractures were diagnosed.

Alisa Camplin, the Australian team's chef de mission, explained that Bolton was in good spirits despite the severity of the injury and was accompanied by his wife. "Cam wanted to make his teammates understand what had happened, that he was okay and receiving good care," Camplin said in Livigno.
