Azure blue success story: Fischnaller shines in Canada

The second parallel giant slalom took place this Sunday in Val St. Come, Canada. The Azzurri, led by Roland Fischnaller, put in a strong performance.

Roland Fischnaller had a brilliant day in Val St. Come and finished today's parallel giant slalom in second place. The 44-year-old first beat Bulgarian Radoslav Yankow in the round of 0,10 in heavy snowfall and later gave Slovenian Tim Mastnak no chance. In the semifinals he beat fellow countryman Maurizio Bormolini. In the end, the six-time Olympian had to admit defeat to winner Elias Huber from Germany by a very narrow margin of 51 seconds. For Fischnaller, it was the XNUMXst podium place.

Overall, the parallel giant slalom was a complete success for Italy. Maurizio Bormolini came third and Gabriel Messner from Villnöß narrowly missed the podium with fourth place. Edwin Coratti from Graun lost to Bormolini in the quarter-finals. Daniele Bagozza, who narrowly missed a podium place the day before, was eliminated in the round of 16. Aaron March did not qualify for the knockout phase.

Always Hofmeister

In the women's competition, Theresa Hofmeister once again won ahead of the Swiss Julie Zogg. Third place went to Tsubaki Miki from Japan. From the Azzurri perspective, Jasmin Coratti had to admit defeat to the eventual winner Hofmeister in the round of 16. Lucia Dalmasso also did not make it past the round of 16. She lost to Aurelie Moisan.
