Bagozza on the March duel: “It was great”

After his victory in Cortina, Daniele Bagozza had words of praise for his opponent and teammate as well as for the entire Italian team.

Daniele Bagozza triumphed in the parallel giant slalom in Cortina d'Ampezzo on Saturday evening, beating his teammate Aaron March in an all-South Tyrolean final. After the race, Bagozza was overjoyed and paid due respect to his opponent: "It was great to compete against such a strong teammate as Aaron."

The victory was anything but easy, not least because Bagozza had not had much success on this slope in the past. "I know this slope well, but last year it didn't go well for me here. This time everything worked out perfectly." In addition to the race with March, the athlete from Ortisei had an extremely close duel with the Austrian Alexander Payer in the semi-finals. It was so close that the winner could not be decided by the finish photo, and Bagozza ultimately made it to the final due to his better qualifying time.

After the victory, Bagozza also turned his attention to the entire team: "We have shown again that we are a great team." This statement underlines the impressive breadth of the South Tyrolean and Italian snowboarders, who also shone with numerous top performances in Cortina.

Jasmin Coratti was the third South Tyrolean to stand on the podium on Saturday. She finished third in the women's category.
