Boardercross in Livigno: Visintin defies the pain

Omar Visintin, a boardercross racer from Algund, will compete in the finals at the Olympic Games in Livigno. Although the South Tyrolean is not fully fit, this was already clear before the qualification round.

Thirty-two athletes started, and all 32 qualified for the finals. Why even have a qualification round if everyone advances anyway? Well, the qualification rounds were used to create a seeding list for the round of 16. This begins at 1:45 p.m.

Omar Visintin from Algund knows how to win Olympic medals. In 2022, he won silver in the team event and bronze in the individual competition in Beijing. However, Visintin suffered a shoulder injury during training on the Olympic course in Livigno. It remains to be seen whether and how much this will hinder the 36-year-old in the finals, where contact with opponents is likely. Visintin only had to complete one run in the qualifying round. As the 20th-placed skier, he was already guaranteed qualification after the first run.
