“It’s incredible to celebrate a World Cup victory at home.” With these words, Jasmin Coratti, the 23-year-old snowboarder from Langtaufers, summed up her historic triumph. At the parallel giant slalom in Carezza, she celebrated the first World Cup victory of her career and thus wrote a new chapter in South Tyrolean winter sports. "I'm so happy and to do it on this slope is a dream come true. It's crazy to win a World Cup, but to do it at home is incredible."
Coratti showed an impressive performance in Carezza. Run after run, she fought her way forward with the necessary determination and finally defeated the Polish Aleksandra Krol-Walas in the final with a razor-thin lead of 0,14 seconds. "I took each run individually and I was always very fast on the flat section," said the South Tyrolean about her strategy.
The renewed encounter with her final opponent Krol-Walas was a personal redemption for Coratti. "It was strange because I lost to her in China, so it was like a rematch. Today was more fun, it was a really good run."
Great team performance
Coratti then highlighted the importance of her team: "We are a great team and coach Fabio Breda in particular is doing a great job." The Italian snowboard team shone in Carezza with a strong overall performance, even though they narrowly missed the podium in the men's event. Her brother Edwin Coratti narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the men's event, but still showed that talent and passion run in the family.Edit Profile
