Coratti's Double and Fischnaller's Icing on the Cake

On the traditional Faloria slope in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy's best snowboarders fought for the national titles this weekend - and from a South Tyrolean perspective, things could hardly have gone better.

Maurizio Bormolini from Lombardy crowned his already strong season on Saturday. The newly crowned World Cup winner and team world champion left nothing to chance in the big slalom final, comfortably defeating Tommy Rabanser and claiming the Italian title. Aaron March finished third, Gabriel Messner was fifth, and Daniele Bagozza took sixth.

South Tyrol took the top spot in the women's competition: Jasmin Coratti from Langtaufers showed strong nerves and prevailed in the final against Elisa Fava. This was Coratti's first major national title. Team world champion Elisa Caffont took third place.

Fischnaller and Coratti win the giant slalom

On Sunday, the parallel giant slalom title fights continued in Cortina – and once again, the South Tyroleans made headlines. Jasmin Coratti had an absolutely brilliant day, securing the giant slalom title after the slalom. She beat Canadian Kaylie Buck in the final. Third place went to Sofia Valle from Trentino, who prevailed against Giorgia Carnevali in the small final.

In the men's competition, veteran Roland Fischnaller triumphed, adding another title to his impressive career. He defeated Gabriel Messner in the all-South Tyrolean final. Third place went to Czech Adam Pocinek, who prevailed against Canadian Ben Heldman in the small final.
