Austria celebrates in Livigno – Azzurri go home empty-handed

The boardercross final at the Olympic Games in Livigno was a nail-biter. All four finalists battled for the medals right down to the last few meters. In the end, Austrian Alessandro Hämmerle emerged victorious.

Alessandro Hämmerle has won his second Olympic gold medal. After Beijing 2022, the Vorarlberg native has now also taken first place in Livigno! Silver goes to Canadian Eliot Grondin, who, as four years ago, was narrowly defeated (+0,03 seconds). Jakob Dusek finished third. The Lower Austrian overtook the 21-year-old Frenchman Aidan Chollet (who was the fastest in qualifying) in the final meters.

The final in Livigno was exciting from the start. Grondin and Chollet initially took the lead, before the Austrians gradually closed the gap on the long course. At the final jump, everyone was roughly neck and neck, before Hämmerle snatched the Olympic victory in the final meters, leaving Grondin behind.
