Rare sight: Azzurri go home empty-handed.
There was nothing to be gained on Saturday at the World Cup in Bansko, Bulgaria, for the success-spoiled Italian skiers.

In the parallel giant slalom, Edwin Coratti from Langtaufers and Aaron March from Völs were the only Italians to reach the round of 16, but were eliminated there. Coratti lost to the German Yannik Angenend and finished 14th, while March was defeated by the Austrian Benjamin Karl and thus finished ninth.
Karl ultimately prevailed in the final against Canadian Arnaud Gaudet. The Swiss player Gian Casanova won the bronze medal match against Angenend.
Daniele Bagozza (Lajen) narrowly missed qualifying for the round of 16, finishing 17th. Tommy Rabanser from Val Gardena (34th) and Marc Hofer from Passeier (44th) also failed to advance to the knockout stage.

The Italian women also came away empty-handed this time. Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister won the final against Poland's Aleksandra Krol-Walas, while Japan's Miki Tsubaki secured third place against Bulgaria's Malena Zamfirova. The only competitor from South Tyrol, Jasmin Coratti from Langtaufers, missed out on qualification, finishing 30th.Another parallel giant slalom race will take place in Bansko on Sunday.
