Victory and third place: South Tyroleans strike back

The previous day, the parallel slalom in Bad Gastein had seen two Italian victories – but no South Tyrolean podium finishes. The following day, the local skiers struck back.

Aaron March and Lucia Dalmasso They won the mixed team competition on Wednesday in Bad Gastein (Austria). "I'm very happy with today. We rode very consistently. But the main reason for the victory today was Lucia," March explained in the winner's interview afterwards.

The 39-year-old South Tyrolean was two hundredths of a second faster than his rival Dario Caviezel in the final. Dalmasso, who had already won the singles competition on Tuesday, was then faster than the Swiss skier Julie Zogg, who had a few errors.

Jasmin Coratti/Messner also on the podium

Third place went to Jasmin Coratti and Gabriel Messner A duo from South Tyrol prevailed in the bronze medal match against the Austrians Christoph Karner and Jessica Pichelkastner. Coratti and Messner had already won silver in this competition at the World Championships in Engadin last year.

The snowboarders depart for Bansko on Thursday. Two parallel giant slalom races will take place in Bulgaria on Saturday and Sunday. Scuol winner Roland Fischnaller will also be competing this weekend. The 45-year-old skipped the stage in Bad Gastein to rest his injured ankle. Only one parallel giant slalom race, and no slalom, will be held at the Olympics.
