The parallel slalom in Bad Gastein is one of the great classics of the Snowboard World Cup. South Tyrol's top athletes have always felt at home here. Aaron March, Daniele Bagozza, and Roland Fischnaller have all already added their names to the list of winners. No further victories were added on Tuesday. Nevertheless, the dominance of the Italian team continued thanks to Lucia Dalmasso and Maurizio Bormolini.
Aaron March will be particularly annoyed. The overall World Cup leader, who won at the same venue last year and finished a respectable fifth in qualifying, was eliminated in the quarterfinals. He was well ahead against Bulgarian Alexander Krashniak, but a costly mistake proved his undoing. The race on the challenging slope was marked by numerous crashes. This was also true of the men's final, in which Krashniak went down after just two gates, paving the way for Bormolini's victory.
Dalmasso wins in the women's competition
For the 31-year-old from Livigno, it was his third victory in Bad Gastein, following wins in 2023 and 2024. Despite the crash, Krashniak also had reason to celebrate, as he reached the podium for the first time in his career. American Cody Winters finished in third place. Daniele Bagozza and Gabriel Messner also qualified for the final but were eliminated in the round of 16, finishing in 12th and 9th place respectively.Lucia Dalmasso was unbeatable. © Pentaphoto
The women's race unfolded similarly to the men's: Michelle Dekker, who qualified fastest, crashed after just a few gates in the final and had to concede her second victory of the season to Dalmasso. Aleksandra Krol-Walas (Poland) completed the podium.
