Lots of celebrities at the FISI festival: “Starting signal for winter”

For the fourth time in a row, the Happacherhof in Auer was the venue for the winter sports festival. In summer temperatures, the biggest South Tyrolean stars didn't miss the event. At the same time, the most important sports officials such as FISI President Markus Ortler, VSS Managing Director Daniel Hofer and CONI President Alex Tabarelli were also on site. The latter led the large audience through the evening.

“The winter sports festival marks the start of the new season – even if winter is not yet an option given the temperatures,” said Tabarelli. He also explained the role of the regional association and the efforts to provide even better support to the athletes. “The goal of the regional association is to help as many athletes as possible get into the national team. In contrast to before, we don't leave them to their fate, but rather continue to support them. We help them get what they don’t get from the national team,” emphasized Tabarelli.

Lots of celebrities But the focus of the festival was the athletes – from big to small. The World Cup greats honored the young winter sports talent, which created special moments for the talents. Undoubtedly, today's stars also had time for one or two comments: "The Olympics are just around the corner," said snowboard icon Roland Filehner: "I struggled for a long time last season, but I will definitely continue riding until 2026," assured the 42nd -year olds.

Another topic was the construction of the toboggan run in Cortina. Tabarelli confirmed that it would be built and that there would be no need to move to Innsbruck. “It would be extremely important for the future of our sport,” said Marion Oberhofer, who won the overall World Cup in doubles together with Andrea Vötter. Dominik Filehner, who also won the big crystal ball, also sincerely hopes that things will work out with the railway in his home country.

Vötter also had a second task in Auer: she accepted a farewell gift on behalf of her friend Kevin Filehner. The 29-year-old had to end his career due to injury and has now been integrated into the national team's coaching staff. In addition to the tobogganer, Greta Pinggera was also officially farewelled. The 28-year-old natural track luger also ended her career after her sport was not included in the Olympic program. “I had a wonderful time and can quit with a clear conscience,” she said. “And I hope that our sport will improve.”
