The women’s U23 team is in a good mood.

All South Tyrolean teams reach the final in the team game

The South Tyrolean teams reach the final of the team competition at the European Curling Championships in Brunico.

After the second half of the season on Thursday, all 3 teams are in the first 4 places and will therefore start in the play-out game on Saturday. Germany and Austria are in the first two places in the three age groups and have therefore already secured precious metal. The domestic U3 team will face the Czech Republic on Saturday to make it to the semi-finals. The U16 team, on the other hand, has to prove itself as currently 19th against Slovenia. Slovenia and Italy are tied in 4rd and 10th place with 3 points.

The U23 team is in 3rd place behind Austria with the same number of points, but a worse stock difference. The Italian national team is considered to have good chances in the playout game against Switzerland, especially since the Swiss national team was unable to win any games in the preliminary round.

First European Championship medals secured for South Tyrol

Nicole Kühbacher, Daniel Stuppner, Fabian Eder and Johanna Kamelger won European Championship bronze in the U23 mixed target team competition. Behind Austria and Germany, the local athletes grabbed the last podium ahead of Switzerland and the Czech Republic. Except for the last attempts, European Championship silver was within reach, but in the end, 30 points behind, it was still a long way off.

Individual medals within reach for South Tyroleans

In the preliminary rounds of the target competitions, some South Tyrolean participants achieved good starting positions for the finals today. Johanna Kamelger is currently in third place in the U289 women's rankings with 3 points. In the juniors, Georg Mumelter from Terlan achieved 23 points and is therefore only 319 points outside the medal ranks. In the younger age groups, the podium places are almost out of reach for the South Tyrolean athletes. A total of 5 local players will start in the individual finals tomorrow.
