There are new state champions in snowboarding.
Not only alpine skiing, but also the other winter sports disciplines have had an intense week. South Tyrol's athletes competed in biathlon, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. Here's the usual overview.

On Saturday and Sunday, a parallel slalom was held on the Glockenlift slope in the Alpin Arena Schnals ski area. The first race on Saturday counted as both a FIS event and towards the Alperia Snowboard Cup standings, and thus the Alperia Cup Trophy. World Cup veteran Fabian Lantschner from Bolzano emerged victorious, winning the final against regional team athlete Kevin Crazzolara (Stern im Gadertal). Third place went to Marc Hofer from Passeier, who also has World Cup experience. Tobias Mutschlechner, also from the regional team, finished seventh. In the women's small final, a regional team duel took place between Emma Dorfmann from Brixen and Lucy Call from St. Vigil in Enneberg, with Call ultimately taking the win.
On Sunday, the parallel slalom was all about South Tyrol, as the new regional champions were crowned from the U9 age group upwards. Fabian Lantschner emerged victorious in the senior category, while Kevin Crazzolara claimed the men's title in the U20 category, and Sofia Federspieler, also from Villnöß and a member of the regional squad, won the women's. In the U15 category, Lia Holzknecht (ASV Villnöß) and Mirco Prinster (ASV Burgstall) took the top spots, and in the U13 category, Nina Holzknecht (ASV Villnöß) and Rafael Battocletti (ASV Burgstall) emerged victorious. Nora Knapp (ASV Villnöß) and Jan Perathoner (ASV Villnöß) won the U11 category, and Leonardo Pioli (Snow Gherdëina) triumphed in the U9 category. Fabian Lantschner won the race itself ahead of Marc Hofer, and in the small final, Kevin Crazzolara prevailed over Tobias Mutschlechner. Sofia Federspieler finished third in the women's competition, while Lucy Call came in sixth.
Mini Gsieser Tal Run and Coppa Italia for cross-country skiers
The cross-country skiers also had an eventful week. Everything was ready in Gsies for the 42nd Gsies Valley Run, which once again included the popular Mini Gsies Valley Run. This race also counted towards the Raiffeisen Cross-Country Skiing Cup standings. South Tyrol's star biathlete Lukas Hofer was a special guest at the awards ceremony. U10: Ronja Bodner (Kronspur) and Johann Hofer (SC Gröden)
U12: Elena Kostner (SC Gröden) and Damian Gruber (ASC Sarntal)
U14: Anna Profanter (ASC Seiser Alm) and Matias Piazza (SC Gröden)
U16: Jana Gufler (Kronspur) and Paolo Pietroboni (ASC Sesvenna)
U18: Regina Gartner (Kronspur) and Theo Tasser (Kronspur)
Furthermore, the regional cross-country skiing team participated in the Coppa Italia in Toblach and the Gsies Valley Run, which also counted towards the Coppa Italia standings. In Toblach, Emma Schwitzer finished third in the U18 skating sprint, while Giada Fachin took second place in the U20 category. In Gsies, Emma Schwitzer won the 30-kilometer race in the U18 category, while Lea Hintner finished second and Giada Fachin third in the women's U20 race.
Cross-country skiing in Martell and Coppa Italia in Brusson
The biathletes competed over the weekend in two events: one at a stage of the Hubert Leitgeb Raiffeisen Trophy in Martell, and the other at the Coppa Italia in Brusson. A mass start race took place in the Aosta Valley on Saturday, where Verena Pallua finished third, Sara Eisath fourth, and Katja Pallua fifth in the women's "Aspiranti" category. In the "Giovani" category, Patrizia La Marchina finished sixth. On Sunday, an eight-shot sprint saw Sara Eisath finish fourth and Elsa Canins fifth in the women's "Aspiranti" category, while Felix Wolf made a strong showing, finishing fourth in the men's "Aspiranti" category.Martell celebrated another cross-country skiing triumph. © Sportissimus
Over 140 young biathletes in the U9 to U15 categories competed in the final stage of the Hubert Leitgeb Raiffeisen Trophy at the Grogg Biathlon Center in Martell on Saturday. The competition, organized by ASV Martell, also saw the crowning of the new state mass start champions. The following biathletes won this title:
U9: Lina Kofler (ASV Martell) and Hannes Pöhl (ASV Martell)
U11: Chiara Perkmann (ASV Martell) and Aaron Gufler (ASC Passeier)
U13: Dana Lilien Riba (ASD Antholz) and Adam Oberhauser (SC Gröden)
U15: Eva Hilber (ASD Antholz) and Loris Costabiei (Alta Badia)
Junior World Championships in Canada and Coppa Italia in Bondone
The freeskiers also had a busy weekend. Starting with the South Tyrolean athletes competing at the Junior World Championships in Calgary, Canada. In slopestyle, Bolzano's regional team athlete Max Von Aufschneiter particularly impressed with a ninth-place finish; only a small mistake in his run prevented an even better result, if not a podium finish. Alex Putzer finished in 48th place after a mistake in the qualification round, while Elia Baez Locher crashed in training and was unable to start.Jakob Aichner stood at the very top of the podium. © Sportissimus
The South Tyrolean athletes who stayed home delivered top results at the Coppa Italia in Bondone. In the Junior/Senior category, Jakob Aichner prevailed over Jonas Gasslitter. Two more South Tyrolean women, Nina Mairhofer (second) and Emmi Forer (third), landed on the podium. In the Children F category, Maya Recla won, with Lotta Recla finishing third. In the Ragazzi M category, Jan Weger came in second and Fritz Iurino third. And in the Allievi M category, Gabriel Gräber finished second and Leo Del Frari third.
