Youth Olympics: South Tyrol's tobogganers on the big track

The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are currently underway in Gangwon, South Korea. South Tyrol's artificial track toboggans have once again caused a sensation.

The local tobogganers had already won 5 medals over the weekend. On Monday another gold medal was added: In the mixed relay, Alexandra Oberstolz, Leon Haselrieder and the doubles Philipp Brunner / Manuel Weissensteiner were unbeatable and won ahead of Latvia and Austria.

Some of them are following in the great footsteps of their parents: Alexandra is the daughter of Christian Oberstolz (ex-doubles athlete), Leon is the son of Oswald Haselrieder (also a successful doubles athlete) and Manuel is the son of Gerda Weissenteiner (ex-Olympic champion).

Italy was not only successful in luge at the Youth Olympic Games on Monday: there was also gold in the women's biathlon sprint by Carlotta Gautero and in the giant ski slalom by Giorgia Collomb.
