Italian authorities are on high alert. US President Donald Trump is apparently planning to visit the 2026 Winter Olympics this weekend.

The President of the United States wants to watch the men's ice hockey final – hoping that the Americans will win the gold medal. Trump also intends to travel to Verona afterward for the closing ceremony, the newspaper reports.

It appears that the Air Force is needed to get Trump from the Santa Giulia Ice Arena to Verona. The Olympic ice hockey final will end around 5 p.m., and the closing ceremony starts at 8:30 p.m. With the Air Force, the flight time would be approximately 40 minutes.

Vice President JD Vance attended the opening ceremony in Milan with approximately 300 bodyguards. Vance also attended ice hockey games. President Trump's security detail is likely to be significantly larger. Accordingly, a substantial effort will be required when the US president visits Italy.
