Together with the newly elected board, the Vinschger wants to continue on the path taken and keep the focus on promoting young talent and the sustainable development of South Tyrolean winter sports until 2030.
Ortler was confirmed on Saturday afternoon with 5306 out of 5696 votes (93,15 percent) from eligible South Tyrolean clubs. Flavio Roda, president of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), also participated in the general assembly. "The past four years have been very intense and culminated in the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, an absolute highlight. I am now looking forward to my third term as president of the regional winter sports federation. We have already been able to advance many interesting projects in the past four years. Now it is important to lay the groundwork for the next Olympic cycle and work together to provide the highest quality training for young athletes," said Ortler after his confirmation.
Broad support within the board
Together with the president, the association will in future be led on the board by Georg Altstätter, Walter Eberhöfer, Giorgio Giovanelli, Christian Gruber, Dietmar Herbst, Leander Moroder and Arnold Rieder. In the group photo from left: Stefan Schweigl, Christian Gruber, Leander Moroder, Silvia Bertagna, Markus Ortler, Monika Santa, Giorgio Giovanelli, Arnold Rieder, Georg Altstätter and Walter Eberhöfer.

A long association history
With his re-election, the continuity at the helm of the state winter sports association, founded in 1946, continues. The first president was Alessandro Malpassi, who led the association for more than three decades. He was followed by Heinz Kemenater (1976–1978), Helmut Adams (1978–1992), Martin Wieser (1992–2001), Richard Weißensteiner (2001–2006), Alfred Jud (2006–2008), and Hermann Ambach (2008–2019). After a brief interim period under Vittorio Menghini, Markus Ortler was first elected president in September 2019 and subsequently re-elected in 2022 and 2026.Elections of the South Tyrol Regional Winter Sports Federation FISI 2026 - 2030
