With a new program: Everything is ready for the Marmotta Trophy

The most important innovation of the 18th Marmotta Trophy was presented on Tuesday morning at a press conference in Kurtatsch, at the headquarters of the sponsor Rothoblaas.

The ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup stage in the Martell Valley will be entirely dedicated to the Olympic disciplines: On Saturday, March 21, the mixed relays will take place, and on Sunday, March 22, the men's and women's sprint races.

“For safety reasons due to the snow conditions, we decided, in consultation with the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF), to change the program of the 18th edition of the Marmotta Trophy and concentrate on the two Olympic disciplines,” explained the members of the organizing committee, chaired by Georg Altstätter. “It would have been dangerous for the athletes to compete in the individual race, so we opted for a compact but equally exciting program, especially for the spectators, who can easily follow the races.”

Ten days before the start of the event in the Martell Valley, which lies entirely within the Stelvio National Park, preparations are already well underway. "Between 70 and 80 athletes will participate in the competitions, including, presumably, the Olympic champions who were crowned last month in Bormio," according to the organizers. The competitions of the sporting event, organized by the local chapters of the South Tyrol Alpine Club, the South Tyrol Alpine Club's mountain rescue service, the CNSAS mountain rescue service, and the Martell Sports Club, will take place on Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22.
