Olympics 2026 | What Tuesday brings

Today, Tuesday, several medal events – including some involving athletes from South Tyrol – are on the program at the Winter Olympics.

The first event with South Tyrolean participation begins at 10:00 a.m., when the Nordic combined athletes launch themselves from the large hill, followed by the awarding of medals over the 10-kilometer distance starting at 1:45 p.m. Right in the thick of the action are the two athletes from Val Gardena. Aaron Kostner and Samuel CostaKostner will start the ski jumping competition with bib number 17, followed by Costa with bib number 24.

The biathletes will open their second week of the Olympics this afternoon with the men's relay at 2:30 p.m. The Ridnaun native is hoping for a good result. Patrick Braunhofer and the Montaler Lukas hofer on the decisive home advantage. Together with Nicola Romanin and Tommaso Giacomel, the Azzurri are not among the top favorites, but a medal could certainly be possible with an optimal race.

The first two runs in the two-man bobsleigh were already on the program for Monday. The South Tyrolean Patrick Baumgartner Baumgartner and his partner Robert Mircea are currently in ninth place, 1,68 seconds behind the German duo Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhauer. However, Baumgartner is only 24 hundredths of a second away from the medal positions. With the third run (7:00 PM) and the fourth run (9:05 PM) on Tuesday, anything is still possible.

Decisions in ice hockey

Furthermore, the knockout competitions in ice hockey begin on Tuesday. Italy faces Switzerland (12 noon) and faces another top-class opponent. After the 0-11 thrashing against Finland, they want to avoid at least another debacle. With the matches Czech Republic vs. Denmark (4:40 p.m.) as well as Sweden vs. Latvia (At 9:10 PM) two more highly interesting matches are scheduled at the Santa Giulia Arena in Milan. The winners of these matches will each secure their place in the quarterfinals.
