Olympics 2026 | What Wednesday brings

The 2026 Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina are slowly approaching their conclusion. Several interesting events are scheduled for Wednesday, including a medal opportunity for South Tyrol.

The Olympic day begins at 10 a.m. with the first race of the Women's slalom. From a South Tyrolean perspective, ski prodigy Anna Trocker will be there. The young woman from Völs will start her second Olympic race with bib number 41. Otherwise, only Lara Della Mea (16) and Martina Peterlini (24) are competing for Italy.

The big question is whether gold medal favorite Mikaela Shiffrin can withstand the pressure. The American doesn't want to go home empty-handed from Cortina four years after Beijing. Camille Rast, Lara Colturi, Emma Aicher, and others won't make it easy for her.

At 2:45 p.m., the sports world will turn its attention to Antholz, when the starting signal is given for the Women's relay The competition will take place. Lisa Vittozzi, Michela Carrara, and the two South Tyrolean athletes Dorothea Wierer and Hannah Auchentaller will represent Italy. The Italians are among the medal contenders, although France, led by Lou Jeanmonnot and Julia Simon, will be the top favorite. Norway, Sweden, and Germany will also be vying for medals.
