Schwienbacher becomes the title hamster of the sport luge athletes

At the weekend, the natural track lugers ended their season with the state championship in Villnöß. Simon Schwienbacher won titles in singles, doubles and with the team in sport luge.

In glorious winter weather, sport lugers and racing lugers ended their season together for the first time on the "Ranuier Rungg track" in Villnöß. Racing lugers and sport lugers determined the national champions on the challenging and once again perfectly prepared track at the foot of the Geißler. After the 141 athletes completed a training run and the first round on Saturday, the decisive second round took place on Sunday.

In the women's luge, Nadine Staffler from Laas won, ahead of Nina Castiglioni from Latsch and Carolin Marzari from the Ultental tobogganing club. In the men's event, local hero Matthias Lambacher won, ahead of his brother Peter and Daniel Gruber from Laas. The Lambacher brothers, who until a few years ago competed in sport toboggans, also won the state championship title in the doubles, ahead of Paur/Hofer from Völs. Lass won the team title, ahead of Passeier and Ulten, and in the youth event, Laas also won, ahead of Ulten and Gröden.

Schwienbacher leaves Lambacher behind

The new national champion in sport luge is Simon Schwienbacher from Tisens, who won the title ahead of local hero Patrick Lambacher and his team mate Tobias Müller. Schwienbacher also secured gold in the doubles with his partner Patrick Lambacher, second place went to Mair/Müller ahead of Frei/Frei, both from Tisens. In the women's category, Hannah Tschurtschenthaler from Olang won, ahead of Iris Runggatscher and Silvia Runggatscher from Villnöß. The team ranking once again went to Tisens. Olang and Villnöß completed the podium. Olang won the youth team ranking ahead of Tisens and Villnöß.
