Strong junior snowboarders in Ruhpolding
Last weekend brought not only the long-awaited snowfall, but also some strong results for South Tyrolean winter sports athletes outside of alpine skiing.

The South Tyrolean state team snowboarders delivered strong results at the Junior FIS races in Ruhpolding, Germany. In the first parallel slalom, Kevin Crazzolara from Val Badia finished third behind Switzerland's Nuri Mosca and Germany's Samuel Schwerdt. Thomas Fachin (Burgstall) came in fifth and Tobias Mutschlechner (St. Vigil) eighth. Sofia Federspieler (Villnöß) finished eighth in the women's competition.
In the second men's parallel slalom, Mutschlechner secured victory in the final against Schwerdt, while Crazzolara lost the small final against Mosca and finished fourth. Fachin came in fifth. In the women's event, Emma Dorfmann (Brixen), who lost the final against Austrian Theresa Fuchs and finished second, and Federspieler, who won the small final against Austrian Franziska Dabringer and finished third, reached the podium.
The state team for Nordic disciplines was also in action this weekend, competing at the FESA Alpine Cup in Kranj, Slovakia. Leonie Runggaldier from Kastelruth impressed with three top-20 finishes (14th, 16th, and 16th). However, Iorio Min (Bolzano) fell short of his expectations, finishing 76th and 79th.
Biathlon and cross-country skiing with the first stage of the state championship
South Tyrol's young biathletes were in action on Sunday in St. Kassian, where the fourth stage of the Hubert Leitgeb Raiffeisen Trophy was organized by the Alta Badia Nordic association.The young athletes won medals at the Hubert Leitgeb Trophy.
A total of 147 athletes in the U9 to U15 categories participated. These results also counted towards the state championship. The following athletes achieved daily victories:
U9: Lisa Plank (Ridnaun) and David Oberhauser (Gröden)
U11: Anna Lena Staffler (Ulten) and Leon Fischer (Passeier)
U13: Franziska Staffler (Ulten) and Tobias Mairvongrosspeinten (Rein)
U15: Anna Wolf (Antholz) and Elia Steinkasserer (Antholz)
The sixth stage of the Raiffeisen Cross-Country Cup was also the first to count towards the regional championship. A total of 232 athletes from the U8 to the Masters categories competed in the race on Monte Pana, organized by SC Gröden. The event was a freestyle distance race. The following cross-country skiers emerged victorious:
U8: Ilaria Rainer (Antholz) and Willi Weissensteiner (Deutschnofen)
U10: Ronja Bodner (Kronspur) and Johann Hofer (Gröden)
U12: Elena Kostner (Gröden) and Alan Dominik Piazza (Gröden)
U14: Ronja Zemmer (Seiser Alm) and Noe Moser (Sarntal)
U16: Anne Kuppelwieser (Prad) and Tobias Schwingshackl (5V Loipe)
U18: Regina Gartner (Kronspur) and Noah Heinrich Senoner (Gröden)
U20: Livia Kargruber (5V Loipe) and Alex Fontana (Gröden)
General Class: Julia Kuen (Team Futura) and Patrick Nones (Gröden)
Master A: Julian Brunner (Team Futura) and Stephanie Santer (Toblach)
Master B: Georg Piazza (Val Gardena)
