The South Tyrolean talents from other winter sports disciplines also had a busy schedule last week, taking part in various competitions locally and in other parts of Europe.

Universiade: Two South Tyrolean snowboard medals

Turin was recently the venue for the Universiade. Two South Tyrolean snowboarders achieved great success in Bardonecchia, where the snowboard competitions were also held in 2006 as part of the Winter Olympics. In the parallel giant slalom, Fabian Lantschner from Bolzano won the bronze medal, while in the parallel slalom, Simon Dorfmann from Gufidaun took second place and silver.

Cross-country skiing: Gressoney was worth a trip

South Tyrol's young athletes achieved some strong results at the Coppa Italia cross-country races in Gressoney. In the individual start race in the classic technique (7,5 km) in the U18 age group, Marta Bellotti won, while Emma Schwitzer took third place. Among the boys of the same age who had to cover 10 km, Luca Pietroboni came third, just ahead of Elias Oberhöller. In the U20, Livia Kargruber took fourth place. In the mass start at the end of the two-day event, Bellotti repeated her victory. Oberhöller came second, and Pietroboni again came third. In the U20 age group, Giada Fachin came fourth.

Nordic Combined: The Senoners are (almost) unstoppable

A stage of the Alpine Cup took place in Poland at the weekend. The Senoner siblings were very convincing in the Nordic combined event on Saturday. Manuel Senoner won the juniors' event, while his sister Anna took third place in the young women's event. In the special jumping event, Maximilian Gartner was the best local athlete in 22nd place, while Leonie Runggaldier finished 26th. On Sunday, Anna Senoner took fourth place in the second Nordic combined event, while Manuel once again took the day's victory.

Freestylers gain experience

The Ski Freestyle European Cup continued in Font Romeu in the Pyrenees. Max Von Aufschnaiter was there, competing this time for the Italian national team after recent strong performances. In the slopestyle, the Bozen native finished 35th and thus outside the points, while in the Big Air he was able to collect further European Cup points by finishing 22nd.

Meanwhile, the Coppa Italia IFT pitched its tents in Prato Nevoso. Due to the weather, all participants had to ride on the small line. Heidi Pescollderungg from Pfalzen won the women's race, while Elia Baez Locher came third in the young men's race. There were also other podium places in the junior categories:

1. Enea Gelmetti (Pulcini)
1. Colin Vinatzer (Ragazzi)
1. Alex Putzer (allievi)
2. Jakob Aichner (allievi)
3. Nina Mairhofer (junior)

FIL Youth Games visit Jaufental

79 young lugers born between 2011 and 2018 from 18 different clubs in Italy, Austria, Germany and Slovenia took part in the FIL Youth Games in natural track luge on the "Tonnerboden" track at the weekend.
