Giannelli and Co. start the World League this weekend

The 18-year-old player from Bolzano has already trained with the national team in the past, but was called up for the senior national team's international matches for the first time as part of the World League. He owes the nomination to his confident performances at Trentino Volley.

The young South Tyrolean, who is the youngest member of the 14-man Italian squad in Australia, was crowned Serie A champion with the Trentino first division team just two weeks ago and played a key role in his club's success. Now he wants to cause a sensation with the national team in Australia.

“Of course it was nice to win the championship, but it’s also incredible to be able to be here with the national team. I'm still young and there's a lot to do. That's why I live one day at a time without putting pressure on myself. I can still learn a lot from the experienced players,” Giannelli is quoted as saying on the Italian Volleyball Federation’s website.

What his daily routine looks like in Australia? “I train and learn. The Matura exam is getting closer and closer and I want to cut a good figure. On the other hand, I also want to make the most of my stay in Australia. The opportunity to have such an experience doesn’t come along every day,” Giannelli continued.

The “Azzurri” landed in Adelaide on Sunday, where they have been putting the finishing touches to the start of the World League preliminary round. The first game against Australia is scheduled for Friday at 12.10:8.40 p.m. (CEST), while the second game is on Saturday at 3:XNUMX a.m. (CEST). The Azzurri will play a total of twelve matches until July XNUMXrd. Serbia and Brazil are waiting as further group opponents. The two best-placed teams in the preliminary round advance to the Final Four.
