Ceccon is 5 hundredths short of the gold double

On Monday, Thomas Ceccon created a shining moment in Italian swimming by winning the 50m dolphin title at the World Championships in Japan. Now he missed another coup.

Not 24 hours after his celebrated gold win in dolphin swimming In Fukuoka, the 22-year-old exceptional athlete from Thiene, who took part in the Cool Swim Meeting in Meran in June, took second place in the 50m backstroke. Three-time Olympic champion Ryan Murphy (USA) snatched the world championship title away from him - by five hundredths after Ceccon weakened slightly in the last meters.
