The Euregio Swim Cup will take place in May and June.

Euregio Swim Cup: 3 countries, 7 days, 3 stages

Three swimming events in Innsbruck, Brixen and Rovereto were brought together for the first time in 2023 to form the “Euregio Swim Cup”. The field of participants was international, with almost 100 clubs from numerous European countries.

In May and June 2024, the competitions for young swimming talents will take place across borders under the patronage of the European region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino. The event starts at the Tivoli outdoor pool in Innsbruck, where the first competitions will take place on May 11th and 12th. It continues on May 18th and 19th at the Aquarena outdoor pool in Brixen, before the swimming tour ends at the Centro Natatorio di Rovereto from June 7th to 9th.

“At the premiere last year, 1.880 children and young people took part in the Euregio Swim Cup over seven days of competition and demonstrated their skills,” says the North Tyrolean sports consultant Georg Dornauer happily, emphasizing that examples like these impressively prove how valuable and important sporting activity is general as well as the work of sports clubs. “Sport also brings people together across borders. The clubs from Innsbruck, Brixen and Rovereto are doing exemplary work and are helping to ensure that the sports community becomes even more closely networked and that the sporting spirit blows through the European region. Especially for young athletes, events like these offer an excellent opportunity to measure sporting performance and also to exchange ideas with like-minded people. In this sense, it is already clear: all participants are winners and can take a lot of experience with them from the Euregio Swim Cup,” said Dornauer.

“There have been well-attended swimming meetings for many years in Tyrol and South Tyrol as well as in Trentino. With the Euregio Swim Cup, we at the Brixen Swimming Club wanted to create a sporting connection between these regions and also break down other linguistic and cultural barriers. We found enthusiastic partners in Rovereto and Innsbruck and experienced the first final overall award of the Euregio Swim Cup in June 2023 at the third stage in Rovereto,” reports the initiator of this initiative, Sabine Mair Dejakum.

“With over 35 clubs from different countries and more than 500 participants, the International Innsbruck Swim Meeting has firmly established itself in the international swimming scene. As one of the three stages of the Euregio Swim Cup, together with the Brixen Swim Meeting and the Rovereto Swim Meeting, it offers young swimming enthusiasts the opportunity to compete in well-organized and attractive competitions. The Euregio Swim Cup is particularly dedicated to young talent and offers a great opportunity to compete with swimmers from the world’s elite,” says Robert Krismer, chairman of the Tyrolean water sports club.
