ManCity with a show of force in Brighton

English football champions Manchester City have underlined their Premier League title ambitions with a show of force in the away game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the catch-up game of the 29th round, coach Pep Guardiola's team clearly won 4-0 (3-0) on Thursday and climbed to second place in the table with their fourth league win in a row. With one less game played, the gap to leaders Arsenal is one point.


Kevin de Bruyne with a header into the top corner (17th), his first in the Premier League, and Phil Foden with a brace (26th, 34th) decided the game for the defending champions in the first half. After the break, Julian Alvarez (62nd) stepped up for the Citizens, who were missing striker Erling Haaland injured. Man City are aiming for their fourth championship title in a row and have everything in their own hands with five games before the end of the season.

Third-place Liverpool under coach Jürgen Klopp has already lost a lot of ground after two defeats in the last three league games and is currently two points behind ManCity. Guardiola's troops continue on Sunday away against relegation candidate Nottingham Forest, while Arsenal will be visiting Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby shortly beforehand. Liverpool have to go to West Ham United on Saturday.
