Petra Nardelli U18 vice-champion of Italy over 400 m

The U18 title fights in Jesolo, which were characterized by bad weather and constant rain, were very successful from a South Tyrolean perspective. A total of 29 local athletes (19 girls and 10 boys) took part, two, Andreas Zagler and Petra Nardelli, returned home with a medal. In addition, South Tyrol's young athletes collected four 4th places with Franziska Kofler in the high jump, Lisa Seppi in the long jump, Anna Lena Hofer over 3000 m and the 4x400m relay of the Athletic Club 96 Bozen with Ruben Cola, Marco Spagnolli, Raffaele Fusaro and Luca Cola.

Kofler and Seppi narrowly missed out on the podium on Saturday, and today Anna Lena Hofer from Merano was just over two seconds away from bronze in the 3000m. Hofer, who became the U18 Italian mountain running champion in May, completed the route in 10:14.95 minutes, while third-placed Maria Cristina Roscalla from Pavia completed the course in 10:12.19. The title went to Italy's huge talent Nicole Svetlana Reina in 9:45.05.

The 4x400m relay team from Athletic Club 96 Bozen with Ruben Cola, Marco Spagnolli, Raffaele Fusaro and Luca Cola also finished fourth in 3:27.85 minutes behind Italian champions New Food Verona (3:23.42), CUS Torino (3:24.55) and Atletica Rieti (3:26.67).

The U16 Italian Championships will take place in Jesolo next weekend.
