Symbol of the games: Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower

The Olympic rings for the Paris Games are placed on the Eiffel Tower. This was announced by the president of the monument's operating company, Jean-Francois Martins.

Accordingly, work would begin at the end of the month after the Olympic torch leaves Olympia in Greece. The rings are placed on the Seine side of the tower.

The Eiffel Tower is a central feature of the Games, marking the 38km point of the marathon and the beach volleyball event taking place at its base. The Olympic flame is lit at the Tuileries Garden, near the Louvre.
