At the International U18 Tournament in Salsomaggiore Terme (Parma), U16 Italian champion Verena Hofer defeated Russia's Ludmilla Samsonova in two sets 6:0, 6:4 in the first round. Patric Prinoth, however, was eliminated in the opening round against the Swiss Gabriele Moghini.
