Vötter/Oberhofer back at the front: Now it's getting really hot

Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer made it onto the podium for the ninth time this season on Saturday in Sigulda (Latvia). So now the big showdown is coming.

Vötter and Oberhofer, overall World Cup winners last season, took second place in the women's doubles competition.

The two South Tyroleans recorded the second best time in both rounds. However, they were not entirely happy with the result at the penultimate World Cup of the season. That's because Jessica Degenhard and Cheyenne Rosenthal were 85 thousandths faster and took the day's victory.

The German duo (680 points) is now 15 points ahead of Vötter and Oberhofer (665) in the doubles ranking. The overall World Cup, which also includes the sprint races, guarantees even more explosiveness: the two Germans and the two Azzurre are in the lead with exactly the same number of points before the last World Cup stage. Both teams have 795 points. Absolute excitement is guaranteed at the World Cup final next weekend. The scene is once again the ice channel in Sigulda.
Rieder/Kainzwaldner in 7th place
In the men's doubles, the Latvian youngsters and home team Martins Bots and Roberts Plume took victory. They prevailed ahead of the German team Wendl/Arlt and the Austrian duo Steu/Kindl.

Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner were the best of the Italian team. They took seventh place and were two positions ahead of Ludwig Rieder and Lukas Gufler (ninth) in the rankings. Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier were not at the start.

Anna Berreiter (Germany) was successful among the women on Saturday morning, the South Tyroleans missed out on the top ten.
