Innerhofer now wants to let the injury heal properly so that he can then prepare as best as possible for the 2017/18 Olympic winter. “Today is a very sad day,” the South Tyrolean is quoted as saying on the website of the Italian winter sports association. “I always risk everything and never try to back down. But today I realized that with such a break it would be far too dangerous to compete in St. Moritz. I would only risk an even worse injury because I lack both coordination and balance. It's hard to end the season, but I know that I will come back even stronger," Innerhofer concluded his statement.
