Norway's relay team demonstrates their power - Nöckler & Co. in 8th place

The number one cross-country skiing nation impressively demonstrated its dominance in Lahti and, after the women's relay, also won the men's team competition. The quartet led by top star Martin Johnsrud Sundby beat Russia (+4,6 seconds) and won the title for the ninth time in a row. Third place went to the Swedes, who benefited from a fall by the Finnish runner in the finish curve.

The Italian relay team with Dietmar Nöckler from Bruneck, Francesco De Fabiani, Giandomenico Salvadori and Federico Pellegrino took eighth place. As the second runner, the South Tyrolean led his team from tenth to ninth place. The Azzurri then lost some ground again before sprint world champion Pellegrino made up a few positions at the end and finally led Italy into the top ten.

Nöckler: “I’m still going home happy”

“Me and my teammates gave it our all, but we simply couldn’t keep up with the top nations today,” said Nöckler after the race. This was his last World Cup appearance. "The Medal in team sprint makes me go home satisfied, even if I didn't give my best performance in the other competitions. The focus is now on the Olympic season," concluded the 28-year-old.
