“SportNews” report card: Top marks for Windisch, but six fives

It should be noted that it is of course not easy to compare performances in different sports. In addition, the athletes also traveled to South Korea with a wide variety of ambitions - that was also taken into account. The result is a ranking that certainly gives rise to discussion, but which can also be viewed as a pure gimmick.

Far more grace than the teenage competition.

Dominik Paris ALPINE SKI Departure 4. Combination DNF Super G 7. Just missed out on speed medals. Maybe it will work in Beijing.

Johanna Schnarf ALPINE SKI Super G 5. Combination DNF Just like eight years ago, we narrowly missed the Super-G medal. Even gold was only a measly 16 hundredths short.

Alex Vinatzer ALPINE SKI Slalom DNF team events 5. Taken to South Korea as a nobody, returned as a celebrated Pinturault conqueror. Cheers!

Lukas Hofer BIATHLON 10km sprint 10. 12,5 km pursuit 10. 20 km individual 63. 15 km mass start 18. Mixed relay 3. 4x7,5 km Relay 12. I had flirted with an individual medal, but missed it by a relatively large margin. Compensated with another mixed relay medal.

Fabian Malleier ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING double seater 7. Team relay 5. Newcomer of the year. Top 10 again – the Olympic nomination of the doubles youngsters was absolutely justified.

Ivan Nagler ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING double seater 7. Team relay 5. As above. 7- Edwin Coratti SNOWBOARD Parallel giant slalom 8. Managed the only partial victory on the more difficult blue course. With less difference between red and blue, more would have been possible.

Roland Firiegeller SNOWBOARD Parallel giant slalom 7. Similar to above. Was eliminated on the more difficult course against the eventual Olympic champion by a minimal margin. 6/7 Dorothea Wierer BIATHLON 7,5km sprint 18. 10 km pursuit 15. 15 km individual 7. 12,5 km mass start 6. Mixed relay 3. 4x6 km Relay 9. The individual medal was the goal and there. Suffered more than others from wind and cold. Beaten below value. Relay medal as a consolation.

Peter Fill ALPINE SKI Departure 6. Combination DNF Super G DNF It's a shame, I'll probably stay without an Olympic medal. Has three small crystal balls for comfort.

Dominik Firiegeller ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING Single seater 4. Team relay 5. Two thousandths were missing from bronze. If he had driven on the first day like he did on the second with a track record, he would have even won gold.

Lara Malsiner SKI JUMPING Normal hill 15. The 17-year-old “chick” from South Tyrol would have been capable of a top 10 finish. Will have several more opportunities.

Manuela Malsiner SKI JUMPING Normal hill 18. The older Malsiner sister also wanted more and will also be able to show her talent. Maybe with the third sister.

Alex Insam SKI JUMPING Normal hill 45. Large hill 23. Large hill team 11. Reached his target by qualifying for the final round on the large hill. Promising. 6 Florian Eisath ALPINE SKI Giant slalom 14. At the Olympic debut at the age of 33, more would have been possible - but also less...

Sandra Robatscher ARTISTIC TRACK TOBOGGANING Single seater 14. After taking bronze at the European Championships, the animal native had probably hoped for more, at least a top 10 place and participation in the team relay.

Yvonne Daldossi SPEED SKATING 500m 26. 1000m 30. In target. At the Olympics, especially over 500 meters, he achieved exactly the same placement as he did several times in the World Cup.

Aaron Kostner NORDIC COMBINATION Normal hill 37. Large hill 44. Large hill team 8. Not bad for this year's World Cup newcomer. The future belongs to the 18-year-old.

Lukas Runggaldier NORDIC COMBINATION Normal hill 32. Large hill 36. Large hill team 8. The veteran achieved his best results of the season at the Olympics, but also his weakest Olympic results.

Stefan Zelger CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING Sprint classic 41. 15 km freestyle 60. Dietmar Nöckler CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING 15km+15km skiathlon 37. 15km freestyle DNF Team sprint freestyle 5. 50km classic 21. Was considered a gold candidate in the team sprint with Italy's sprint star Pellegrino. It was a disappointing fifth place.

Emanuel Perathoner SNOWBOARD boardercross 15. Boardercross can be a lottery, but 15th place is “a bit” low for the Laion native.
