The next Super Thursday awaits – snowboard qualification postponed

In alpine skiing, two decisions are made within a few hours. It starts with the men's slalom, where the Italian quartet Manfred Mölgg (St. Vigil/start number 2), Stefano Gross (no. 3), Riccardo Tonetti (Bozen/no. 36) and Alex Vinatzer (Gröden/no. 46) challenges the big favorite Marcel Hirscher. Start time is at 2 or 5.30 a.m. our time.

The two rounds of the women's super combined are on the program at 3.30:7 a.m. and XNUMX a.m. CET. With Hanna Schnarf from Olang, who somewhat surprisingly did not receive a starting place in the classic downhill, there is also a South Tyrolean at the start.

Biathletes Dorothea Wierer and Federica Sanfilippo probably have the best chance of winning a medal from a South Tyrolean perspective on Thursday. The South Tyrolean duo will tackle the relay together with Lisa Vittozzi and Nicole Gontier from 12.15 p.m. Central European time. This winter, the Italian women's relay team was already put together in this constellation - at that time the "Azzurre" ran in second place behind Germany.

The Val Gardena combiners Aaron Kostner and Lukas Runggaldier are also in action in the team competition. From 8.30 a.m. they will compete in the team competition on the large hill together with Emanuele Buzzi and Alessandro Pittin - but the “Azzurri” have no chance of winning a medal.

Ski crosser Debora Pixner will be required to qualify on Thursday. The 25-year-old will fight for a place in the finals from 2 a.m. CET.

Snowboard qualification postponed to Saturday The snowboarders, however, only have to qualify for the parallel giant slalom on Saturday. Originally the qualifying runs would have taken place on Thursday, but the busy Olympic program and better TV times led those responsible to move the qualification to Saturday (start: 1 a.m. CET).

In snowboarding, two South Tyrolean athletes, Roland Filehner and Edwin Coratti, are among the closest favorites. Aaron March and Nadya Ochner are considered outsiders, but still want to have a say in the awarding of the top three places. The finals in the parallel RTL are also planned for Saturday.
