Swedes number 1 in curling

The women's curling final between Sweden and South Korea began at 1 a.m. our time on Sunday. The hosts failed to pull off the sensation and had to admit defeat to the Swedes 3-8. It is the Swedes' third gold medal, after 2006 in Turin and 2010 in Vancouver.

Bobsleigh superpower Germany

The Germans also set the tone in the four-man bobsleigh: Francesco Friedrich won gold in the two-man bobsleigh and gold in the four-man bobsleigh, ahead of the simultaneous bobsleighs from South Korea and Germany II. Germany thus won gold in all bobsleigh competitions for women and men. Italy was unable to qualify for the fourth and final race and ended up at the bottom of the rankings with 24th place.

Ice hockey final a thriller

The ice hockey final between Germany and the Olympic athletes from Russia was an extremely exciting game. Underdogs Germany equalized twice and took the lead three minutes before the final siren. The “red machine” equalized 55 seconds before the end. The Russians scored the winning goal in the 10th minute of overtime. Because of the 2014 Sochi doping scandal, Russia was not allowed to take part in the Games in South Korea; only “clean” athletes were invited to PyeongChang as “Russian Olympic Athletes”. When the Olympic anthem was played at the award ceremony, the cracks simply sang the anthem of the Russian Federation.

Björgen historically

With her victory in the 30km mass start race for cross-country skiers, Norwegian Marit Björgen was crowned the most successful Olympian in the history of the Winter Games. For the 37-year-old, it was the eighth gold medal and the 15th Olympic medal overall. Silver in the mass start went to Krista Pärmakoski (FIN) and bronze to Stina Nilsson (SWE).

The Olympic champions of the day
