Big-small, young-old, light-heavy: the 44 South Tyrolean Olympic starters checked

Let's start with age: Four teenagers are part of the South Tyrolean delegation in South Korea - and all four are Ladins: The youngest of all is the 17-year-old ski jumper Lara Malsiner from Ortisei. The combined athlete Aaron Kostner (also from St. Ulrich) and ski racer Alex Vinatzer from Wolkenstein are only a year older. On the other hand, sledder Ivan Nagler from Campill in Val Badia is 19 years old.

At the other end of the age scale, we have four athletes who are 35 years old or more. The very oldest is the snowboarder Roland Fiwickeler from Villnöss at 37 years old, one year younger is the ski crosser Stefan Thanei from Burgeis and behind him are the two 35-year-old ski racers Peter Fill from Kastelruth and Manfred Mölgg from St. Vigil/Enneberg.

Little women, big men Naturally, there is a gender separation in the rankings based on height: the five smallest of the South Tyrolean Olympic starters are female, the five tallest are male.

The two smallest are biathletes: Federica Sanfilippo from Ridnaun measures 1,58 meters and Dorothea Wierer from Antholz is 1,60 m. Behind them are the two Val Gardena ski jumpers Manuela Malsiner (1,63m) and Elena Runggaldier (1,64m) as well as the speed skater Yvonne Daldossi from Lana (1,64m).

At 1,90 meters, the tobogganist Ludwig Rieder from Meransen is the tallest, ahead of the two 1,89m tall Siegmar Klotz (skicross/Pawigl) and Alex Vinatzer (alpine skiing/Wolkenstein) as well as the 1,86m tall Christof Innerhofer (alpine skiing/Gais ), Roland Filehner (snowboard/Villnöss) and Aaron March (snowboard/Schabs). Featherweight Lukas Runggaldier Weight also presents a similar picture to height - with one exception: there is also a man among the lightest of the South Tyrolean Olympic delegation. Only his name and local colleague Elena Runggaldier (54kg) is lighter than the combined athlete Lukas Runggaldier from St. Christina with his 53 kilos. The biathletes Sanfilippo and Wierer mentioned above are a little “heavier”.

Downhill ace Dominik Paris weighs the most kilos: according to the association, an impressive 97 kilos. His buddy Siegmar Klotz (92kg) and his teammate Christof Innerhofer (90kg) also broke the 90 sound barrier.

No matter whether young or old, big or small, light or heavy - they are all top athletes.
