17-year-old US breaststroke swimmer celebrates Olympic victory

The American beat South African Tatjana Schoenmaker and her compatriot and top favorite Lilly King in Tokyo on Tuesday. Jacoby clocked 1:04,95 minutes in her first Olympic Games. When she looked at the scoreboard, her mouth and eyes opened wide in disbelief and then happily waved to the other athletes and support staff in the stands. Ceccon misses medal Australian Kaylee McKeown won the 100 meter backstroke in an Olympic record time of 57,47 seconds ahead of Kylie Masse (Canada) and Regan Smith (USA). In the men's category, the Russian Yevgeny Rylow won ahead of Kliment Kolesnikov, who also comes from Russia. Rylow broke the USA's long-standing dominance in this discipline and secured the first "non-US victory" in the men's backstroke since 1992. Bronze went to Ryan Morphy from the USA. The Azzurro Thomas Ceccon narrowly missed out on a medal in 4th place.
