That’s why the Japanese are “colorful birds”

Ruwen Möller, sports editor of the newspaper Flensborg Avis – the daily newspaper of the Danish minority in Germany – writes regularly for s+ during the games. Today he describes why the Japanese turn out to be “colorful birds”.

I had expected that Tokyo would be bright, colorful, loud and, given the Olympic Games, of course also sporty and playful in many ways. When I thought of the largest metropolitan area in the world, what came to mind were streets with high-rise buildings that could barely stay upright because of all the neon signs. I also had manga, cartoons, computer games and kimonos in every color combination in mind.
