Record! Azzurro sprints into the 100 meter semifinals

As the best runner, Marcell Jacobs qualified for the semi-finals of the premier sprint discipline. The time of 9,94 seconds was also the Italian record for Jacobs. The record man himself was surprised at his speed. “Actually I didn’t run that well, the course itself was fast,” said Jacobs after reaching the semi-finals. “I was a bit nervous at the starting blocks and had to fully concentrate on the start. But I knew that I was in shape,” the sprinter continued. Jacobs targets precious metal For Jacobs, it's all about making it to the final on Sunday (12.15 p.m.). The Italian should be inspired by the result in the preliminary heats. “I've been dreaming about it my whole life - and now I'm seeing the results. But tomorrow is a different day, a different run,” he said, describing his success. Despite his exclamation mark, Jacobs is not one of the favorites for gold.
